Case Study

Learn more about the Web Media Collective's research efforts by reviewing the following Case Study, developed when Computerworld selected The Web Media Collective as a 2003 Computerworld Honors Laureate.

The Web Media Collective is proud to be one of only 300 projects selected worldwide for this honor. This award automatically nominates the project for the distinguished Computerworld 21st-Century Achievement Award in the Media, Arts & Entertainment category. Bill Gates of Microsoft put forth the nomination on behalf of the Web Media Collective and The Ohio State University. The full case study can be viewed at Web Media Collective Case Study 2003.

Every piece of media--books, TV programs, music, photographs, art, software, etc.--captures a particular society's knowledge and values in a form that can be passed on to future generations.

This project is aimed at preserving these 'knowledge artifacts' and making them accessible so that future generations can gain a deeper understanding of the human experience.
